A Culture of Leadership
Life is a journey and so is leadership! Life School of Leadership Arts is implementing the leadership principles of Leader in Me through the “Leader’s Journey” Program. The “Leader’s Journey” is an exciting and inspiring program that is integrated into our curriculum which develops our young children’s ability to use and share their natural abilities and talents. Leader in Me is a leadership program for children that was created by a small group of passionate educators in North Carolina and continues to be adopted and shaped by a global community. It is based on the infamous book, “7 Habits of Highly Effective People” by Stephen Covey.
Leader in Me is based on a theory of change known as the See-Do-Get Cycle. When you change the way you See things, it influences what you Do and the results that you Get. Research shows that children in Leader in Me schools thrive in a nurturing environment because they feel safe, confident, and supported by teachers and other adults. By recognizing each child as a leader with unique gifts and talents to share, all aspects of their education and learning begin to flourish. This social and emotional learning process equips students with the critical life skills to build meaningful relationships and take ownership of their education and learning.
As Stephen Covey puts it, “The best way to prepare the next generation for the future is to emphasize the value of communication, cooperation, initiative, and unique individual talent.” Whether in the classroom or at home, it is never too early for our students to start applying their leadership skills.
